Enjoying the hot tub Visiting Alpine Lakes

The Alpine Lakes Naturist Club meets during the summer months at the grounds located in the Lowburn Valley in the heart of Central Otago. The grounds are open from November to April. Naturists wishing to visit must phone or email in advance. The grounds are located on private farm land with a road gate that is locked. The grounds do not have a resident care taker or any permanent residents. Arranging a visit when members are in attendance will allow access to all facilities. Prior contact is essential.

Lazing at Lowburn Facilities

The grounds are in a private sheltered Valley with plenty of camping area, shelter trees and a small stream to cool off in. For overnight camping you must have a motor home, caravan or tent. We do not have any accommodation or powered sites. A container has been set up with all kitchen requirements. There is gas for cooking, a generator is used at night for lighting, a destructor heats water for the ablution block and the communal room has log burner for cooler nights.
All cooking must be done in the kitchen or a motor home / caravan - no open fires permitted. Central Otago is a high fire risk area in summer with a total outdoor fire ban throughout the region

Location

The Camp is ideally located for outdoor activities: walking, cycling, 4WD, fishing & boating on Lake Dunstan, historic gold mining sites to explore, wine tasting at local wineries, Highlands Motor Sport Park in Cromwell and a 40 minute drive to Wanaka or Queenstown. All essential requirements are available in Cromwell (a 10 minute drive)

Monthly Events

During the year monthly activities are organise - usually the third weekend of each month. Club activities are based at the grounds over the summer period along with week end camping.
February is Lazing at Lowburn a fun weekend and our largest event.
Over the cooler months a mid winter party and spa nights with pot luck meals bring members together

Membership

Subscriptions to Alpine Lakes includes camping fees for members wishing stay at the grounds.
Membership $55 fees are set annually at the AGM which is held in August.
Visitors: $10 per night per person

Whats the umbrella for? History

In 2013 ALNC celebrated 21 years of Naturism in Central Otago. A small dedicated group formed the foundation of the Club in 1992 and Central’s high temperatures and blue skies in summer provide an ideal location to enjoy social naturism.
10 years ago the Club negotiated the lease of the grounds that now give us a home and the perfect setting to enjoy the fantastic central Otago sun shine.
